Anthony Lake and Melinda Gates call on Minister |

Visiting UNICEF executive director Anthony Lake and Co-chair of Bill and Melinda Foundation Melinda Gates Monday favoured intensifying the country’s nutrition programmes for improving the standard of children’s health.
At a meeting with Health Minister Dr. A. F. M. Ruhal Haque at his office on January 9, the UNICEF high-ups assured that the UNICEF would continue its support for Bangladesh in the coming years to cut maternal and child deaths.
Among others, Health and Family Welfare Senior Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir and UNICEF high officials were present during the meeting.
Minister said the country was able to bring down the maternal and child deaths due to the massive steps taken in health sector in the last three years.
The government has taken a number of projects to expand the nutrition programmes in the country, he added.
