Bangladesh to get 311 m pound from UK
Dhaka: November 17: The United Kingdom will provide 311 million pound to Bangladesh for the health sector development for the next five years, reports BSS.
The assurance came when the visiting parliamentary under secretary of the International Assistance Division of the UK Stephen O’Brien called on Health Minister Dr. A F M Ruhal Haque at the latter’s office.
UK under secretary praised Bangladesh for being in the right track in achieving the MDG. Health Minister thanked UK and all other development partners for their cooperation in the health sector.
During the meeting, Brien expressed his country’s eagerness to improve the nutrition level of the people of Bangladesh. ‘Improving nutrition status of the people in the country is a big challenge for Bangladesh,’ he said and called upon the government to attach special importance to this issue.
In this connection, the health minister told the British under secretary that the government has launched a programme to improve nutrition status of the poor people of the country. With the implementation of the project, the situation would improve in the country, he added.
