May 7, 2011: A workshop on `A strategy to scale-up the Midwifery workshop in Bangladesh’ was held at BRAC Centre Inn in Dhaka on May 6 and 7. Ministry of health and Family Welfare Organized the Workshop.
In the opening session of the workshop secretary of the Ministry Md. Humayun Kabir was the chief guest while Ashraful Islam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry was in the chair.
On the following day the participants from home and abroad worked on various subjects in four groups. The subjects of the groups were policy, Strategy & Planning, Education, Training & Research, Recruitment, Deployment & Career Planning and regulation, post creation & job description.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. A. F. M. Ruhal Haque was the chief guest in the concluding session while secretary of the ministry Md. Humayun Kabir presided over the meeting.
State Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. Captain (Retd.) Mozibur Rahman Fakir, UNFPA representative Arther Erken, representatives from International Confederation of Midwives, Directors of the different departments of the Ministry addressed in the sessions.
Dr. Timothy Evans and Khaled Shamsul Islam presented the strategy paper.
